Back before Tyra Banks was a successful talk show host, she was making her money as a model. Not only was she a top model, but she was breaking ground as she became the first African-American to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition as well as GQ. Her Swimsuit Issue came in 1997.

Hannah Davis

Hannah Davis is not only one of the hottest women on the face of the planet, she’s also among the newest additions to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The latest girlfriend of Derek Jeter appeared on the 2015 issue.

Marisa Miller

Before Brooklyn Decker was making the cover in 2010, there was another blonde bombshell who has made a career of doing more than modeling. Miller was about 30 when she appeared in the 2008 edition of the mag.

Kate Upton

The young and vivacious Kate Upton was a relatively unknown when she made the cover of the 2013 edition. Since then, the blonde bombshell has seen her career skyrocket to the point where she even managed to grab a tiger by the tail when she started dating Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.

Irina Shayk

Irina Shayk was born in Russia as Irina Valeryevna Shaykhlislamova in Yemanzhelinsk to a coal miner father and a kindergarten teacher mother. Part of the reason the woman has had any career at all is because of those incredible eyes, which she showed off on the 2011 issue. In 2014, she made her acting debut alongside The Rock in Hercules.

Brooklyn Decker

This all American girl has been all over. She’s appeared in a number of different movies, has long been a clothes and lingerie model and in 2010 she made the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and the world officially fell in love with her.

Elle Macpherson

Tyra Banks isn’t the only throwback on this list. Back in 1988 Elle Macpherson was a bonafide supermodel. Not only was she strutting along more than one catwalk but she was showing the world what she looked like in a swimsuit when she appeared on the cover of SI’s flagship issue.

Bar Rafaeli

Bar Rafaeli was once a well kept secret in Israel. Then she became an international modeling star and her star took off something fierce. When she made the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue in 2009, the entire world saw just how gorgeous she is when she’s wearing a bikini.

Brooklyn Decker

Brooklyn Decker’s modeling career started in the most happenstance way for any American teenager, when she was simply shopping at the mall. She was discovered by a modeling agency, and she skyrocketed into one of the hottest new models in the industry. By the time she was 19 years old, she made her first of three-consecutive appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues. By 2010, she was the cover model for the magazine.
